She went on to a huge film career, with roles in work like Jungle Fever, Boomerang, Losing Isaiah and X-Men. She became the first Black woman to win an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Monster's Ball. She’s also won an Emmy for her portrayal of screen icon Dorothy Dandridge.

Bronson often played tough-guy, vigilante roles and starred in films such as The Magnificent Seven (1960), The Great Escape (1963), The Dirty Dozen (1967), The Mechanic (1972) and Death Wish (1974). Bronson died on August 30, 2003.
